The cold winter months are the most common time to experience a fire-related incident in your home. To keep your home and family safe this winter, follow these simple but important guidelines.

Service Your HVAC System
Routine maintenance can identify problems that could result in a fire before they become tragic. If you notice a burning smelling or smoke coming from your system, call us immediately.

Keep Items Clear of Your Heating Unit
Make sure you keep all flammable materials at least three feet away from your furnace, heat pump or other equipment.

Have Your Chimney Cleaned
Creosote is a highly flammable material that can build up over time in your chimney and catch fire. Have a professional inspect and/or clean your chimney once a year to prevent chimney fires.

Practice Space Heater Safety
Never leave space heaters unattended or on when sleeping. Keep them at least three feet away from anything flammable. And never use an extension cord with a space heater.

Maintain Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors can be lifesaving. Test them once a month and ensure batteries are changed regularly.
